Can You Actually See Chiggers?

On skin, they often go unnoticed. By the time itching begins (3–6 hours after contact), the chiggers have often already detached.

So why does it feel like they’re still there?

How to Tell If You’ve Been Bitten by Chiggers

Since you probably won’t see the bugs themselves, it helps to recognize the signs of chigger bites:

• Itching intensifies over 24–48 hours

• Bites may resemble hives or blisters in severe cases

3. Shower After Exposure

• Wash with soap and water immediately after spending time outdoors

• Launder clothing in hot water to kill any lingering mites

• Mow regularly and trim back overgrown vegetation

• Remove leaf litter and excess mulch

How to Treat Chigger Bites
